Words from Mrs. Enis ~
Wise County was always considered our home, our roots. Mr. Enis and I were both graduates of Slidell High School (1955 & 1957). After graduation from University of North Texas, Bud took his first teaching/coaching job in 1959 at Valley View, outside of Iowa Park. After three years, we moved to Holliday, Texas where we stayed for seven years. Then we moved to Henrietta for two years. My job was a coach's wife and mother to our three children. During this time, I became a college student at Midwestern State University earning my degree and teaching certificate. We then moved back to Holliday where Bud was Principal of grades 7th - 12th and I taught Math at Reagan Junior High in Wichita Falls. In 1976, we moved back to Wise County and made Decatur home. Bud served as Decatur High School Principal for 31 years until 1990 and I taught Math at DHS until I retired in 2004.
Public education was more than a job, it was a way of life. Our three children all became teachers and retired with a combined 98 years of service. Three of our six grandchildren have continued our education tradition.
