Hello Eagle Nation!
Message from Superintendent Taylor Williams:
I am excited to share the launch of a new initiative today, Mission Monday. Each week, our Senior Leadership Team will step out of the office and onto our campuses to see our DISD mission, "empowering life-long learners to be visionary leaders in local and global communities," in action.
Our mission statement is not just words on paper, but a living, breathing part of our schools. We will visit campuses across the district—not for meetings or evaluations, but to see, support, and celebrate our students and staff as they bring our mission to life.
Whether it’s through innovative classroom instruction, leadership opportunities or extracurriculars for students, real-world learning experiences, or witnessing the ways our schools create a positive and welcoming environment, we want to be present where it matters most: in our classrooms and hallways.
This initiative reinforces our commitment to leading with a people-first approach, ensuring that every decision we make at the district level is grounded in the reality of our schools. It’s about making sure our district leadership stays connected to the students, teachers, and staff who are actively fulfilling our mission every day. It also provides an opportunity for open dialogue, allowing us to listen, learn, and support the incredible work happening daily.
We look forward to sharing highlights from Mission Mondays each week and celebrating the amazing ways our mission is lived out in every classroom, every student, every day. Follow along on our Facebook page each Monday to see that week's highlight!
For our first "Mission Monday," the senior leadership team enjoyed an exciting set of performances from some of our region's top choirs.
Our very own Decatur High School was tapped by the University Interscholastic League to host this year's Region 2 Choral Concert and Sight Reading Evaluations for Divisions 4A and below. Twelve schools participated, including our talented DHS choir students. Our Varsity Tenor/Bass Choir and the Mixed Choir delivered a particularly impressive concert and a vocally delightful sight-reading performance, displaying their musical talent and their ability to sing a never-before-seen piece on the spot.
It was truly a musical treat for our ears, and we cannot wait for the results following the competition's conclusion on April 1.
