The district is proactive in collaborating with civic organizations and government agencies to promote development and growth in the community. DISD provides information on academic achievement, demographics, and growth-related issues.

The Director of Communications serves as a liaison between the district and the Decatur community.

The district is represented on local civic and service organizations and coordinates district-wide, internal and external special events and committees.
