Bad Winter Weather May Impact DISD

Hello Eagle Families and Staff,

Decatur ISD is monitoring upcoming weather reports for the the possibility of inclement weather later this week, including snow, ice, and freezing temperatures.

We want to remind our families of the district response in the event of school closures. Our teams will continue monitor weather predictions over the next few days. We will notify families of any necessary closures or delays to schools or events as soon as possible.

If school is cancelled or delayed due to a weather-related event, families and staff will be notified through the following methods:

  • Decatur ISD and campus websites

  • Official district phone calls, texts, and emails via DISD's digital notification system (please update your family information in Skyward to ensure you receive all communications)

  • DISD Facebook and

    X (formerly known as Twitter)

    pages

  • Local news media

Friendly reminder: the district does not send out notifications if there are no changes to the regular school day or afterschool activities.

Remember to Personally Monitor Roads & Weather in Your Area

As always, student and staff safety is our top priority. While we do our best to monitor roads and local weather conditions, it is not possible to observe 100% of roads and weather in all areas. Please monitor the weather and road conditions in your area carefully. Road conditions can vary, and weather can change quickly. As always, know that you have individual discretion regarding what is best for you and your family.
